Business around the world

Danzer Group is represented in Europe, North and South America, Africa and Asia. The Company, which maintains its own forests and extensive forest concessions, operates six veneer factories and five sawmills. These facilities mainly process regional timber to produce high-quality products. Danzer Group’s 30 sales outlets worldwide thoroughly take care of customer needs. The company employs a workforce of some 4,800 employees and posted a turnover of approximately 410 million euros in 2006.

Danzer Group is a wood processing company specializing in the manufacture of veneer and sawn timber from high-quality hardwoods. Danzer veneer is used as a decorative wooden surface in a wide variety of applications. The product serves the furniture, door, automotive, boat and aircraft industries, and is used for interior decoration. Danzer lumber is used primarily to create natural and exclusive designs for interiors and furniture.

Danzer Group’s innovations

Danzer Group is constantly working on new technologies and manufacturing methods to enhance the quality of its products and customer services. Many of these innovations, which include using more efficient machinery and improved processes, have become industry standards in the wood-processing sector. But Danzer Group’s intensive development work is aimed at more than just processing. We are also responding to the increasing demands of different markets by introducing new products. One example is our innovative wooden surface Vinterio, which resulted from years of development by a global team. The project involved efforts and ideas from Danzer Group’s global engineering, production and sales divisions.

Principles of Sustainability

The responsible use of wood and conservation of wood resources is the basis for all our entrepreneurial activities and for our economic capacity. Sustainable, environmentally friendly and socially responsible forest management and procurement of this valuable raw material are extremely important to us. Danzer Group has developed and implemented comprehensive measures and standards, all of which are audited regularly and certified by independent parties. In addition, Danzer Group is cooperating closely with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to prepare the company’s African forest concessions for FSC certification.

Social responsibility

Rather than reaping short-term profits, Danzer Group’s entrepreneurial activities support social principles. For years, our work in Africa has involved large investments, which have made significant contributions to local development. Danzer Group is one of the most important foreign investors in the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo. We are helping to create a competitive domestic wood industry in these countries through a wide range of measures. These initiatives are providing many people with a more solid basis for their livelihood.

Our Karl Danzer Foundation supports company employees and their families who have fallen into need through no fault of their own. The Foundation also supports charitable organizations in countries where Danzer does business. In addition, the Foundation offers occupational training programs for young people.
